The daughter of celebrated filmmaker, Gilles Carle, and artist, Suzèle Lachapelle, Ariane Carle has been immersed in the arts since early childhood. Her studies at the École des Beaux-arts de Montréal led her to experiment with a wide array of colours, textures and styles. With her “Tricots d’Ariane”, she became one of the rare artisans to import threads from India and knit them herself, thereby producing original, superior quality knitwear. Ariane Carle attends many trade shows. For close to 30 years now, she has produced two collections per year, starting with “Tricots d’Ariane” knitwear and, later, Ariane Carle Design. Her collections are sold internationally, in such cities as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, and Las Vegas. A regular fixture at Montreal fashion shows, she has also represented Quebec around the world at fashion shows in California (Maison du Québec), New York, Paris (Défilé du Trocadéro), and Edmonton.
In the 80s, she opened two boutiques in Toronto and one in Montreal on Laurier Street, before opening her current boutique on Saint-Joseph Boulevard in the late 90s. Carle has appeared in such prestigious magazines as Vogue USA and Harper’s Bazaar. A major performing arts enthusiast, she has also worked as a costume designer for the stage and film and is worn by many celebrities.
